I’m happy BioWare stayed true to form and didn’t shy away from the freedom to choose where sex is concerned in Dragon Age: Origins…
Don’t misunderstand! I’m not saying that it’s a good merely for prurient reasons, only that it’s good that some developers simply give players the choice.
I think that’s important, especially in games that allow the player to create and shape the development of their own character. Everything from physical appearance, skills and moral compass are covered; all of which can affect the in-game world so why not add sexual preference to the mix?
The freedom to choose is always a good thing.
It’s nice to see that the staff at BioWare have a sense of humour about what could be a controversial subject to some. The “Surprise me.” option above in the screenshot can lead to some rather, er, interesting encounters!
*MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD*
Hitting the “Surprise me.” option a few times, my poor character has encountered a husky, cross-dressing Dwarf male, waking up with odd “implements” and odd scenes such as the scarecrow, bullwhip, wood frame and flowers; all accompanied with humorous text or dialogue.
And don’t ask about the animals!
What happens in Denerim, stays in Denerim!

Your character looks a little concerned in the 3rd pick.
The character animation was that of her looking around the room warily— which begs the question: why is she still worried?
Oops, I forgot to include the picture of the husky Dwarf. Fixed.
After you wake up, the Dwarf says, “Oh yes… The world moved for everyone…” in a really bored, flat tone.
Each encounter costs 40 silver. You can haggle the madame down to 30 if your character has at least a level 1 Persuade skill.
40 silver is quite expensive as far as in-game currency is concerned.
